FAQs

Q. What are the requirements?

A. Volunteers must be aged from 14 years and 9 months as of the first day of being a Steward at the Show. Please complete the form and send back to RNCAS Volunteer.

We will contact you prior to the event for induction and/or necessary training.

Q. How do I get started?

A. Complete the Expression of Interest form and send it back to RNCAS Volunteer. Our events are rewarding and fun but demand a high level of customer service on your part.

Please carefully consider your schedule and availability to commit your time.

Q. What do RNCAS volunteers do?

A. There is an extensive list of interest for your consideration from the ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show – Canberra’s largest all ages event, to the Royal Canberra National Poultry Show – the biggest poultry event ever staged in the Southern Hemisphere.

We will need your help to assist the Section Head behind the scenes or staffing the information booths during the Show.

  • Staffing the information booths located in various locations around the showground. In this role you need to direct people to different areas in the Showground or answer questions about what’s on and where the events are around the grounds.
  • Assisting the Section Head behind the scenes if you have some knowledge or skills in a particular area

Register your interest in the Expression of Interest form and we will contact you prior to the event for induction and/or necessary training.

Q. Why does RNCAS engage volunteers?

A. We engage volunteers because of their passion, enthusiasm, skills and experience, but most of all because our volunteers share the same interest of promoting the agricultural mix of “city meeting country” and “country meeting city”.

Volunteering allow a wider public to be part of our agricultural-focused events in non-financial ways.

Volunteers play an important role in all activities at the Royal National Capital Agricultural Society.

Q. Can I volunteer if I work full time?

A. Yes, you can. Many of our volunteers who work full time find time to volunteer during the evening or on weekends.

Q. How many hours do I required to volunteer?

A. This is flexible and depends on your availability during the time of each Show. Prior to the event you will receive a Steward contract to confirm your amounts of time.
