Celebrating the Centenary of Canberra
The Handknitting Sub-Section at the 2013 ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show has multiple knitting challenges for avid knitters who want to apply their knitting skills to create something different and exciting!
What are the Handknitting Challenges for 2013?
In addition to the existing large array of classes that you can enter, the handknitting challenges for 2013 include:
- Any handknitted article depicting your interpretation of ‘Celebrating the Centenary of Canberra’
- Decorative Teddy Bear Challenge – handknitted teddy bear decorated with embellishments of any kind
- Evening Wear Challenge – knit an article for those special ‘dress up’ occasions
- Christmas Challenge – knit a decoration for your Christmas Tree which could become the family heirloom
- Group Project Challenge – gather your knitting friends and together knit up an article of your choice.
- SENIOR (Non Professional, 65 years and over)
Group Project Challenge – handknitted article made by a group of seniors.
- SPECIAL CHALLENGE OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS
Alpaca Challenge - Knitted article or garment in Alpaca. (At least 50% Alpaca).
- SPECIAL CHALLENGE OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS
Class Project Challenge – knitted article made by a group of students.
- Great Canberra Scarf Competition
The Great Canberra Scarf Competition, sponsored by Galifrey Alpaca Textiles, provides the opportunity for knitting enthusiasts to use their creativity and imagination to make a scarf reflecting the theme of ‘Centenary of Canberra’.

Start knitting!
Have your entry form submitted by 14 December 2012 (refer Craft Expo Schedule 2013) and then deliver your creative works on the due date in February 2012.
Then come along to the ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show 2013 to see how you fared in the handknitting sub-section and join us in celebrating the Centenary of Canberra!
** DOG MANAGEMENT POLICY **
No dogs are permitted except for registered Guide or Assistance Dogs.
If you bring a dog, you will be asked to leave.
Your entries will be cancelled and there will be NO refund given.

** CAR PARKING POLICY **
Unauthorised vehicles are not permitted to park on the grounds.
Any vehicles on the grounds will be asked to move or will be referred to security.
